An Artist with a Track Record and Recognition for a Trophy that Transcends Borders

The artist chosen for the creation of the Doctrina Qualitas Trophy represents the perfect blend of craftsman, technician, and trendsetting creative.

Joaquín Bembibre Viano, who operates his workshop in Viodo (Gozón), has been involved in artistic projects for many years. For example, he collaborated on the creation of the acclaimed glasses made from cider bottle glass, along with the renowned artist and designer Marta Viera (Board Member of AGA, Association of Designers of Asturias) from her studio La Pila. These glasses were featured and acclaimed by critics at the Cider Museum Exhibition in 2022.

Bembibre holds a degree in Industrial Technical Engineering from the University School of Industrial Technical Engineering in Gijón, and he also earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from the School of Industrial, Aerospace, and Computer Engineering at the University of León.

He has a vast experience in construction and the decoration sector, having worked on high-profile projects such as his involvement in the La Quinta urbanization designed by architect Joaquín Torres in Luanco. The renowned architect for footballers and celebrities in Madrid has created one of his most beautiful urban works overlooking the sea in this northern tourism capital, and Bembibre's involvement in metal structures has added quality and design to the project.

"Asturias Brand" and Sustainability

Bembibre's work is primarily carried out using iron and stainless steel. These materials are used to shape doors, gates, staircases, railings, partitions, as well as customized designs such as the Doctrina Qualitas Trophy. All of his work is done in accordance with the motto coined on his website "Better as before," a philosophy that aims to convey a simple idea: craftsmanship and art made with traditional methods as the foundation to ensure the highest quality, the latest design trends, and minimal impact on our ecosystem with the least resources required for manufacturing processes.

The intimate relationship that Bembibre maintains with metal has been present since his childhood. A native of the Asturian "Mining Basin," his settlement in Gozón, alongside an old iron mine, speaks volumes about the origin and fusion of the artist Bembibre with his environment. It is impossible to deny that what surrounds us is part of ourselves, and in this case, Bembibre's works "smell of the sea, of iron, of fire, and of living nature."

With this recipe, we find works in which the black metal intertwines with wood and other noble materials, offering us a panorama of textures adapted to each space and occasion with the style and sophistication of the latest trends in the language of design.

Bembibre, Chosen for His Timeless, Natural, and "Characterful" Design

In 2024, a selection process was conducted among different candidates to design the Doctrina Qualitas Trophy, and the reason Bembibre was chosen stemmed from his connection with nature and how it was reflected in his work.

The artist Joaquín Bembibre chose to work on the two initials that define the Doctrina Qualitas brand; the D and Q formed the basis for a volumetric work where the material stands wild as a unitary mass that conveys hardness, confidence, and solemnity at the same time.

The design, in graphite black color, allows for plays of light and can be one of the most beautiful ways to represent two letters that out of context mean nothing, but in the realm of quality and education, they are an international benchmark.

The various awards and accolades that Doctrina Qualitas has bestowed upon universities and companies from diverse sectors always represent consumer confidence and the assurance that those who receive these awards can be proud to represent a concept of unparalleled reliability and quality. In this case, the designed trophy conveys these values tangibly, so that when we contemplate it, it conveys rigor and solemnity.

The Awardees in a Special Year for Asturias

2024 is the year when Asturias replaces Cuenca as the Gastronomic Capital of Spain. For this reason, gastronomy will be considered a fundamental pillar where two trophies will be awarded; one of the Doctrina Qualitas Trophies will go to a restaurant that, from the American continent, has been able to convey the best of Spanish cuisine, and another will be awarded to a restaurant that is a standard-bearer in Seville.

Another two trophies will be awarded to two of the educational institutions with the greatest international presence, which have their headquarters in Spain. One of these institutions has a presence in Italy and Portugal, and its educational activity has demonstrated that the field of training and specialization is one of the economic drivers of Europe.

The second educational institution to receive this trophy is a benchmark in university education and has activity in Latin America with thousands of students accessing programs with double degrees, courses in transversal skills, and programs on high leadership that have been a support for many companies.

The trophy for the winners of the Doctrina Qualitas Satisfaction Award 2024 will be presented on March 11th, 12th, and 13th.
